Chi-Return Mounting SystemPATENTED

The Chi-Return Mounting system utilizes counter tensioning springs to absorb the chi of a strike and return the muk jong to position. Since it is spring loaded in both directions, techniques such as neck pulls and sweeps can be performed as confidently as frontal attacks.

Our original mounting system was made to work only with our muk jong. It was sold only as a package, and provided a quality training experience at an affordable price.

It was basically two mounts like this one, an upper and a lower. Since it was designed specifically for our muk, the spring tension was not adjustable.

We have always received requests for just the mounting system. Our system was incompatible with other muk jong, especially wooden muk jong because of their weight. Unfortunately, just about every one of the requests came from wooden dummy owners. The reason our muk jong package worked so well was because it had a mounting system designed specifically for it.

The mounting system is an integral part of the muk jong -- they work together and depend on each other. The muk provides a point of contact and gives physical and audible feedback. The mounting system allows the martial artist and the dummy to exchange energy.

The most common problems with a muk jong do not relate to the muk, they are directly related to the mounting system. Slats can be broken and the dummy can hit the ground and break. Often dummies are dropped while trying to adjust the height. And, if you can adjust the height, it is an ordeal. Traditional mounting systems require construction, take up quite a bit of floor space and have to be repaired.

We wanted our design to give martial artists the features they want. This led to our present design which can be used on wooden and PVC muk jong made by just about any manufacturer. The Martial-Quest Chi-Return Mounting Systempatented is the ultimate mounting system for training with the muk jong, yes, even better than the traditional mounting systems.

Since our original system was released, several systems resembling ours have been introduced. Our chi-return system has features no one else can offer.

This mounting system allows height and tension adjustments to set the action of the dummy. It is well built, is easy to adjust and comes with an installation DVD. It works with the muk jong to provide a quality training experience.

The slats are made of Poplar wood and are shipped sanded, but not finished. This allows you to stain or paint the slats to match your dummy. The mounting system is intended to be mounted to wood studs found in most walls. Since the most common stud spacing is 16 inches on center, all mounting systems are shipped with slats to accommodate 16 inch centers.

We have a stock of slats on 32 inch centers if you want more lateral travel for the muk. Please be sure you know the stud spacing before you order. If you need 20 inch on center slats or some other size please let us know and we will make them as needed

Adjusting the height on some mounting systems is not an option or it's an involved process. More often than not, once a dummy is up, the height is not going to be adjusted more than once or twice. This is not because the martial artist wouldn't like to, it is because the martial artist would rather be training on the muk instead of constantly readjusting the muk. Actually adjusting the height allows different training experiences as well as accommodating people of different heights.

Eight handwheels allow the Martial Quest Chi-Return Mounting SystemPATENTED to be adjusted 5 inches vertically, without tools or a major time investment. 5 inches allows a lot of versatility in training as the majority of the population's height falls within a 5 inch range.

Since the dummy is always attached to the wall, the risk of dropping the dummy during the height adjustment is removed.

This design also keeps the muk close to the wall, saving floor space. It is clean in appearance and makes the muk jong the most prominent feature since it does not use any heavy wood frames.

The struts are the defining feature of our mounting system. The Chi-return concept was practicle, effective but not available. The government agreed with us and we granted us a patent on this design. That's why you will find it nowhere else but Martial-Quest.

Two self locking nuts hold the muk on the mounting system. Adjusting the tension (action) of the dummy is as simple as turning the rear nut. Increasing the tension loads the springs and makes the muk action stiffer, loosening the tension allows for softer action. The tension nut is spray painted at the factory setting, so you always have a bench mark as you make your adjustments.

Just as all martial artists are not built the same, all buildings are not built the same. In the event you do not have wood studs or your studs are not 16 inches on center, don't despair. It is possible to fabricate adapters to use the mounting system on poles and I-beams. Also adapters can be made to allow the Chi-Return Systempatented to be mounted from floor to ceiling. We strongly recommend you understand how our system, or anyone else's, mounts to the wall. An improperly mounted dummy will not perform the way you want and can be dangerous. They hurt when they fall on you, plus the price of wooden dummy arms is not going down. A properly mounted muk jong is a safe investment.

If you are considering buying a muk jong or have one you are dissatisfied with because of the mounting system, please compare the Martial-Quest Chi-return Mounting Systempatented features to our competition. When a muk jong is on our Chi-Return Mounting Systempatented, it is secure, stays the way it was set up, and it's ready to train when you are.

If you are not satisfied with the Martial-Quest Chi-Return Mounting Systempatented, we will refund your money. The educated customer is our best customer. If you do not see the information you want on the web site, please ask.
