After many years in the martial arts, my son and I changed schools and was delighted to see a wing chun dummy. It was the first time I actually seen a real one and I waited for the chance to lay into it. However, Sifu was not thrilled to see me really hit the dummy full force for 2 very good reasons.

1) I was not using the dummy correctly

2) I could break the dummy.

My Sifu explained the concept of energy transfer as it applies to the muk jong and I was on my way.

Soon I wanted a dummy of my own, however I didn't have six foot of wall space to give up. This lead to the development of the Chi-Return Mounting System. I made the body the body of the dummy out of PVC and the arms from oak. Soon other martial artist were wanting an affordable muk jong and MARTIAL-QUEST was formed.

At a trade show a man was looking at the muk I had on display. I explained how it trains you to transfer energy. He started doing things I had never seen. It was partly his form and some sinawali drills mixed in. Granted the guy was not Joe Average, he took applications he knows and applied them to the dummy on the fly, very smoothly. A truly talented and open minded martial artist. I didn't know what he was doing but the report from the dummy confirmed the correct energy transfer. Awesome!

It is possible to use theMuk Jong in a multitude of ways. There is no reason to confine the use of the muk jong to the standard 108 count, if fact that is a disservice to this tradition training devise. I can practice many things by myself, western boxing, hubud, two inch strike, kali, jun fan boxing, sinawali, silat, all kinds of trapping and more.

Many martial artist already had Muk Jong but wanted our mounting system. The requests for the Chi-Return Mounting System began to come in. At this point we devolped the universal mounting system whick can be used on Muk Jong made by any manufacturer.
